Keto Steak & Shake Remake (burger, fries, & a milkshake)

This Keto Steak & Shake remake is for anyone on a low carb diet who recalls dipping French fries into a vanilla frosty in their childhood... and would like to revisit. The zero carb burger bun + low carb fries & low carb / keto milkshake make this a perfect, healthy & macro-friendly nostalgic keto dinner (that is single serve!)

There are three parts to this remake:

  1. The low carb bun & burger

  2. The low carb fries

  3. The keto vanilla milkshake

MACROS for the entire meal (burger w/ bison, fries, & milkshake):

13 carbs | 39 fat | 39 protein

MACROS for burger bun:

1 carb | 17 fat | 8 protein

MACROS for fries:

9 carbs | 4 fat | 1 protein

MACROS for milkshake:

2 carbs | 13 fat | 0.5 protein

You can easily make this dish lower fat or lower protein by reducing the amount of meat or eliminating the coconut cream from the milkshake.


Burger bun & burger patty

  • 4 oz ground bison (or beef)

  • 1 egg

  • 1 oz dairy free Kite Hill cream cheese (or cream cheese of choice)

  • 1 tsp ghee

  • Splash of unsweetened almond milk

  • Sea salt & pepper to taste

  • Burger toppings: pickles, lettuce, Primal Kitchen ketchup, etc.


  • 150g raw turnip

  • 4g avocado oil

  • Seasonings of choice - pepper, sea salt, paprika, garlic powder

Vanilla milkshake

  • 60 mL coconut cream

  • 90 mL unsweetened almond milk

  • 10g vanilla ski pure therapeutic exogenous ketones*

  • 14 - 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

  • 150g ice (or enough ice to taste)

*You can get these exogenous ketones here.

*Not 100% necessary for recipe, but if you omit, add in sweetener of choice and ideally some other thickener.
