I only drink water and of that 99.999% is carbonated. I get bottled mineral water (from Costco) for work and I have a soda stream at home (I just don't use the syrup). Having said that, I have 1-2 (16oz) bottles of "mineral water" per day.
If you are asking because you are afraid for getting too much mineral content, but the actual amount is VERY minimal.
Yes ^ to actual mineral content being rather low. Found that "Gerolsteiner" has the highest mineral content, but it is also rom Germany (we've been trying to source more from US - so in that case, "Mountain Valley" is our new favorite, it's from Arkansas).
We have been drinking based on our thirst levels. Admittedly, we need to stop drinking so much water close to bedtime because it's been leading to several "potty ups", which is undesirable. I'd say drink more during the day, based on your thirst levels (will increase if having more salt) and then put a halt to it a bit before bed.
Our total water intake lately has been around 100 oz or so... give or take on how thirst we were during our workouts, 20 of those oz in the form of mineral water (no specific guideline here... lol!) BE CAREFUL WITH IT AROUND FOOD TIMING - sodium bicarbonate will neutralize stomach acid.
@jordan.thomas2124 There is some talk / arguments that you shouldn't drink [a lot of] water before/during/ after a meal. Basis of that is that it will dilute your stomach acid. That being said, it is like most other things .. it different for everyone.
For me (n=1) I drink almost 1 full liter of carbonated water (CO2 not bicarbonate) with my one meal, and I have been doing this for about 8 years with no ill effects. I mention the CO2 vs bicarbonate for the sparkling water because bicarbonate will lower acidity. Having said that, unless you are sensitive or have existing stomach acid issues, it is generally believed that you wouldn't drink enough to actually mess up digestion. BUT, that is a belief and as stated earlier .. everyone is different.
Your safest bet is to just try with a little at a time and see how it affects you personally.

Would you guys advise against drinking water before, during, or even an hour or two after meals?
