Hello guys
I’m so desperate for this to work. Recently I’ve been having trouble with feelings of hypoglycaemia. I have adjusted my electrolytes and drinking 2l but still feel funny weak and nauseas I’m between meals.
Any tips ?
I think it’s hypoglycaemia. Has anyone had any experience with this?
How long have you been doing this? As you know there is a transition period for Keto/Carnivore and some folks get flu-like symptoms during this time. Managing your electrolytes is key. Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar. So, you can test your blood sugar to see if it is actually low or not. Most likely, it is an electrolyte issue. Make sure you are getting the equiv. of 2.5 tsp of quality salt/day (measure it out and put it in a container and use it for cooking & eating) to be sure you are getting enough salt. You may also need to supplement with magnesium (most folks are deficient). But I'd start with the salt. If you aren't getting enough salt, your body with flush magnesium & potassium out when you pee which makes the problem worse. Try taking a little salt in the palm of your hand and a swig or two of water when you feel weak & nauseated and see if that helps. You should know within 15-30 minutes or so if you feel better. A lack of salt can cause a whole host of problems including the ones you mentioned plus constipation, etc.
Agreed with the salt! I did see you have been managing your electrolytes, you could be flushing them out still, and you may be surprised just how much salt is a good amount for you. I would also recommend getting some baseline blood work, as this will provide some "clues" as to what could be going on.
Thank you for that replies! It really is confusing as I was in the first 4 weeks having 2 teaspoons of salt in 2l water throughout the day and additional in my food. Was still not feeling right(heart racing and tired) so was advised by a coach who I had a session with that I must be having too much salt and that I should just have whats in my food and to add additional potassium. I know you have to be careful with potassium so I have been having an avacado here and there.
today I had a lightbulb moment! as I’m still not digesting fats very well so I must not be meeting my energy needs. I can’t go too high protein as this send my blood sugara very high as I have insulin resistance aswell. I have today started digestive bitters so am hoping this will improve digestion. what a roller coaster it’s been. After hearing so many positive stories I was expecting to feel amazing. I will persevere though as I don’t feel like I have a choice. I don’t want to go back to the sugar addiction.
one positive I have seen is that I’m sleeping better some nights after years of poor sleep and my vision has improved so much.
