Hi everyone! I came to the carnivore diet in June or July of 2019 because I had severe gut issues. I would bloat to the point where people told me I looked pregnant, had eczema, Raynaud‘s syndrome, constipation/mucous covered stools/oily stools that literally looked like someone dumped salad dressing into the toilet (sorry, I know that’s gross). I had severe burning in my gut and could barely eat 1000-1500 cals per day. I was eating all of the healthy foods I thought would heal my gut (essentially low carb veggies and organic meats, no nightshades, no dairy, no eggs, no nuts/seeds) I ended up losing a ton of weight and was hospitalized for malnutrition. My doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong and said I just needed to be eating 6 times per day to gain weight. So, when I was released, I did just that. I ate 6 times per day but all fruits, veggies, organic meats, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. After a few weeks, the burning came back, my eczema had returned, and I was bloated every single day. Fast forward to now, I have been carnivore for 8-9 months and saw significant improvement - I gained lots of lean muscle mass (with which comes some fat), had increased energy, no burning, way less bloating, increased strength and gym performance, and more mental clarity. Things weren’t perfect, but i Felt as if I was gaining my life back. About 6 weeks ago, all of my symptoms came back worse than before. I did not change a thing - I got all of my meat, eggs, and organs from my same local farmers and did not add anything back in. Since then, I have been severely bloated, in pain, have eczema on my arms, and my energy is draining. I’ve tried to add very small amounts of benign carb sources in but that has not helped at all. my symptoms this time are worse than before and my functional medicine doctor is baffled at what to do. I guess my question is - has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone have any advice (whether that be a test to order, supplement to try, etc)? Is it safe to stay carnivore if there is this much inflammation in my body? I’d love you hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I don't have an answer as to why your symptoms returned, but I was happy to hear that you were able to gain weight and your life back with this way of eating.
